KEVIN McCRORY
Enshrined October 7, 1999

After he was diagnosed with Muscular Dystrophy at the age of 26, Kevin McCrory was introduced to competitive wheelchair basketball, suiting up for the Oakland County Sharks. McCrory joined the Flint Flying Eagles in 1995, and it wasn't long before he guided the squad -- a perennial last-place finisher -- into one of the top teams in the state. McCrory earned recognition as the consummate team player, and as the squad's captain and leading scorer, he led the Flying Eagles to their first-ever Michigan Wheelchair Basketball Association state championship. A solid all-around athlete, McCrory won a silver medal in Michigan's wheelchair bowling competition in 1997. And in the 1997 Michigan Airgun Shooters Wheelchair Games, he won gold medals in four events. Away from the fields of competition, McCrory has donated considerable time as a coach for youth sports and as a summer camp volunteer for the Muscular Dystrophy Association. He is also a past-president of the North Branch Lions Club.
