Harry Edward "Old Slug" Heilmann

Outfielder and first baseman. Won American League batting title for times, 1921,23,25 and 27, batting .402 in 1923. Collected 2,660 hits including 182 home runs in 2,146 major league games. Lifetime batting average .342, fielding mark .976. Never hit under .300 until final year with Tigers, 1929. Following three years with Cincinnati, NL, 1930-32, returned to Detroit broad- casting 18 years including Tiger games. Inducted into the Michigan Sports Hall of Fame in 1956.
