Jim Kaat

A native of Zeeland, Kaat pitched for 25 years at the major league level for the Minnesota Twins, Washington Senators, Chicago White Sox, Philadelphia Phillies, New York Yankees and St. Louis Cardinals, winning 283 games and holding opponents to a stingy 3.45 earned run average. His finest season came in 1966 when he won 25 games for the St. Louis Cardinals. He was widely regarded as the best fielder at his position, winning the Gold Glove in 16 consecutive seasons (1962-1977). The three-time All-Star helped the St. Louis Cardinals to a World Championship in 1982. Inducted into the Michigan Sports Hall of Fame in 2002.
